Horizontal Juicer FAQs

How to Identify your parts…
Towards the front of the manual you received with your juicer is a guide to which part is which.

How do I put my Juicer together?
Firstly unpack all parts in the box and put on a kitchen bench or table
Unwrap all the plastic and separate all the parts
Place the motor body of the juicer near a power point ready for use
Take the Drum out and have it ready
Pick up the Auger and place this inside the Drum with the metal part towards the Silicon ring at the back of the Drum.
Place the Metal Part of the Auger through the Silicon Ring at the back of the Drum
Take the Juicing Cone / Screen and place this over the Auger. Ensure that the Metal Mesh Part is in line with the hole at the bottom of the Drum.
Pick up the End Cap and attach this to the open part of the Drum and lock into place.
If your juicer comes with an adjustable end cap ensure that it is attached to the end of your Machine.
Your Front end is now complete and ready to attach to the Motor base.
Ensure you Locking Clip on the end of the Motor base is set to “Open”
Now attach your front end to the motor base ensuring the juicing chute is vertical and facing upwards.
Move your Locking clip to closed and your juicer is ready to use.

Pulp is backing up when I juice soft Apples, berries or other over ripe fruits how can I make this better?
Horizontal Cold Pressed Juicers sometimes struggle when a user is juicing soft fruits such as raspberries, strawberries and oranges. This is due to the lack of fibre in these ingredients. Firstly if your juicer has a pulp adjustment nozzle, change the setting to low (0) Then to improve your juice further, please add something hard to your juice such as a piece of carrot or beetroot to help push the softer ingredients through.

What Ingredients are Horizontal Juicers great for?
Celery, hard vegetables, hard fruits, leafy greens, wheat grass.
Can be used to make celery juice, vegetable juice, citrus juice, fruit juice, leafy greens, nut butters, nut milks, pasta, wheat grass juice, baby foods, frozen desert + more.

Which Ingredients are not recommended for a Horizontal Juicer?
Softer fruits such as strawberries/raspberries and oranges can create more pulp, you will need to add a harder fruit or vegetable such as carrot to help push these softer fruits through.

Which Horizontal Juicer is best for Celery Juicing?
All of the Omega Horizontal juicers are excellent at juicing celery, however the NC802HDS and NC902HDS Models produce a 5% increase in yield from the J8828 Model, with the NC1002HDC Model producing a 10% greater yield than the J8828 Model.
For those looking for the best celery juicer available on the market, as recommended by the Medical Medium, the MM900HDI model produces up to 20% more celery juice and nutrients than other Omega models thanks to the specific celery attachment.

What pressure setting should I have for each ingredient?
For hard and firm produce, Omega’s supplied manual says to use a higher setting, which increases juice yields.
However, a high pressure makes it more difficult for the juicer to eject pulp from softer produce causing your juice to be more pulpy. So that’s where you need to adjust to a lower setting for best results.

Vertical Juicer FAQs

How to Identify your parts…
Towards the front of the manual you received with your juicer is a guide to which part is which.

How do I put my Juicer together?
VSJ843RS - Ensure you assemble the juicer correctly once complete the 2 orange arrows will be aligned.
Firstly unpack all parts in the box and put on a kitchen bench or table.
Unwrap all the plastic and separate all the parts.
Place the base of the juicer near a power point ready for use.
Take the strainer and put it into the rotation wiper, give it a turn so it naturally turns easily.
Take the Juicing screw / auger and place it in the strainer, allow it to drop in naturally.
Check under the juicing bowl and ensure the rubber seal is sealed.
Place the rotation wiper with the strainer, place the juicing screw in the juicer bowl.
Place the juicing bowl on the base of the juicer, ensure it is placed comfortably and the juicing screw can turn.
Place the Hopper Lid on top of the Drum and twist so the orange arrows are aligned and the lid is locked in place.
Then turn on the juicer for use.
Note the juicer will not start unless all the above is in place.

What Ingredients are Vertical Juicers great for?
Celery, hard vegetables and fruit. Due to the different design in auger vertical juicers do not offer such a close squeeze. This can lead to a slight increase in pulp in your juice.

Which Ingredients are not recommended for a Vertical Juicer?
In our experience vertical juicers are not recommended for people looking to juice leafy greens or wheat grass.

Which Vertical Juicer is best for Celery Juicing?
The VSJ843RS Model is the best vertical juicer for celery, whereas the MMV702S Model has a wider mouth and its chute is just under 8 cm wide, making it capable of juicing an apple whole for more convenient juicing.

I inserted too many ingredients into the chute at once. What do I do?
If there are too many ingredients inside your Omega, the hopper may not open. If this is the case, toggle between the extract and reverse buttons. Switch to the reverse button, and twist open the hopper at the same time. If this still does not help, do not try to force the hopper open. Please contact customer support at info@omegajuicer.com.au.

The bowl is stuck and does not detach from the base.
This is caused by excessive food or an unknown substance in the bowl. Press the reverse button 3-5 seconds and run water through the bowl. Repeat this process 2-3 times, then push the bowl upward or jiggle while turning.
Also, make sure the pulp control outlet is "CLOSED" when you take the bowl off the base.

Can I use frozen fruits in my juicer?
Yes, you can use frozen fruits in your juicer, just ensure that they are slightly thawed to avoid damage. It is recommended that you use the coarse strainer when juicing frozen fruits.

What is the difference between a juice and a smoothie?
Both juices and smoothies are great ways to add more nutrients and fiber to your diet, but they are very different. Juice is easy to drink, has a clean/smooth texture, and is concentrated with nutrients and soluble fiber which your body absorbs quickly.  A smoothie is much thicker and takes longer for your body to digest. Since good juicers separate and reduce the pulp from the juice, you also don’t have to peel your produce or remove small seeds. With a blender, you would need to remove anything you don’t want to eat such as seeds, stems, etc.

Do I  have to slice vegetables and fruits before juicing?
Yes, we recommend cutting your fruits and vegetables into smaller, 2 inch pieces to help optimize yield and reduce pulp. See below for recommendations for various produce:

Vegetables

We recommend preparing your vegetables by cutting them into a size such that the pieces will fall through the feeder chute without needing to be pushed down. Chop carrots into half-inch discs and all other root vegetables such as beetroot to a similar size.

Fruits

Ensure you cut pieces into a size that will easily drop down the feeder chute. Remove skins from citrus fruits. If the Omega becomes clogged then this can be remedied by feeding a harder fruit or vegetable through like a cube of carrot.

Leafy Greens

Roll leaves into cigar shaped parcels and then fold them in half, ensuring that the size is not too big for the feeder chute. It is best to use dry leaves as wet produce can be difficult to process, so it's recommended that produce is dried with kitchen town prior to use.

Celery
Cut your celery into small pieces no longer than 2 inches and place them down the chute individually.

How should I store my leftover juice?
We recommend drinking your juice as soon as possible to get the most nutrients. If you do have some leftover to store, make sure to use a container with an airtight lid to prevent oxygen from reaching and degrading juice, and to refrigerate as soon as possible. Even so, we do not recommend keeping juice for over 48 hours.
